SMITH CIVIL WAR CARBINE. SN. 1547. Cal. .50, 21-1/2” part oct bbl. Made by American Machine Works Springfield, Massachusetts. Sling ring bar and rear sight leaf are missing. Lower tang has been broken and repaired causing a poor fit of the buttstock. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall with traces of finish showing in protected places. Stock has a good “JH” cartouche along with numerous dents and scratches. Bore is poor, action is good. 4-47856 FS84 (500-800)
