NEW ENGLAND SACK-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR. Late 18th century. The bowed crestrail with seven spindle back joined to a curved medial support continuing to shaped grips. The oblong plank saddle seat raised on splayed turned legs, joined by a turned and swelled H stretcher. SIZE: 35″ h of back, 17″ h of seat. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ & Portland, ME. CONDITION: This example originally painted, now stripped and polished in natural finish.
