REMINGTON NO. 1 SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 40-90. SN 6770. Beautiful sporting rifle with 32-1/4” medium weight oct bbl, with German silver front sight & small open rear sight. Mounted with very nicely figured, uncheckered, streaky, American walnut with metal semi-schnable forend tip & straight stock with semi-crescent buttplate. It has usual patent markings on left side of receiver, serial number on bottom tang & caliber on bottom bbl flat. Maker’s name & address are on top flat behind rear sight. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 95-97% strong, bright, orig blue with slight muzzle & sharp edge wear & a thin spot over forearm area. Receiver, trigger guard, forend cap & buttplate retain most of their orig case colors, lightly faded on receiver, brilliant in sheltered areas. Forend cap & buttplate are moderately faded. Breechblock & hammer retain most of their orig glossy bright blue. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-60185 JR348 (4,000-7,000)
