WILLIAM MALHERBE (American, 1884-1951) “FOREST OF FONTAINEBLEAU”. Oil on wood panel landscape scene shows a pond ringed by trees, grass and dirt banks. Signed lower left and dated “28”. A Hartford, Conn. exhibition label is attached to back with title. On back is a stamp “Paris American Art”. Also, there is an original French title “L’Etang Dans la Foret de Rambouillet” with artist signature and date “1928”. Housed in an outstanding carved and gilt modern frame with wide liner having gilt name plaque. SIZE: 18″ x 14-1/2″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-94300 (3,000-5,000)
