LOT OF TWO ANTIQUE WINCHESTER LEVER ACTION RIFLES. (1) Model 1894. Cal. 25-35. SN 13548. Blued finish, 26” rnd takedown bbl, crescent butt, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight & a Remington style semi-buckhorn rear sight, smooth walnut stock. CONDITION: Very good. Retains about 50% orig finish to metal & wood. Front sight is replacement. Wood has light nicks & dings. Mechanics are fine, bore is dark & pitted. (2) Model 1873. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). SN 185616. Blued finish, 24-1/4” oct bbl, crescent butt, smooth walnut stock, half nickel front sight & semi-buckhorn rear sight. Dust cover is missing. Accompanied by factory letter from curator T. E. Hall stating this gun was shipped as “a rifle, caliber 38, octagon barrel, and plain set trigger. Shipped September 5, 1885”. CONDITION: Good. Metal is a dark plum patina with light pitting. Wood retains traces of orig finish with an area appearing to have had an inlay that has fallen out. There is a hairline at the wrist near receiver & another at left side of forearm. There is a gouge in forearm with usual nicks & dings over wood. Mechanics are good however safety notch on hammer is missing. Strong bright bore with light pitting. 4-57948 ET98 (2,000-3,000)
