ELI TERRY & SON HALF-COLUMN SHELF CLOCK. 2nd quarter 19th century. Mahogany case with scrolling crest, stencil decorated with fruit basket and flowers beneath a displayed eagle, flanked by plinths, the door with clear glass panel above a gilt-decorated eglomise panel centering a polychrome painted scene of a country estate flanked by engaged ebonized and stenciled half columns, the whole raised on acanthus carved paw feet. The interior with original paper label, “PATENT CLOCKS/INVENTED BY ELI TERRY/MADE AND SOLD/PLYMOUTH, CONNECTICUT/ELI TERRY & SON.” The painted wood dial with Roman numeral chapter ring within gilt scrolled spandrels with a weight-driven time and strike 30-hour wood movement. Clock is offered with pendulum, winder and two weights. SIZE: 33″h x 17-1/2″w x 5-1/2″d. CONDITION: The original works not inspected for working condition. The eglomise panel with flaking.
