R. WHITING TALL CASE CLOCK. 1st quarter 19th century, Winchester, Connecticut. The swan’s neck crest centering spool-turned finials above the cove molded arched cornice above a glass panel door flanked by columns. The painted wood dial with scrolling gilt spandrels centering an Arabic and Roman numeral chapter dial. The dial painted “R. WHITING WINCHESTER”, above simulated time and strike apertures. With original wooden movement. The pine case with narrow throat on a box base with cove molding continuing to French feet. Clock is sold with an assembled weight . SIZE: 86-1/2″ h x 15″ w (throat) x 10″ d. CONDITION: In as-found condition, the case now stained a light brown. Fair to good overall. 9-21841 (400-800)
