INTERESTING EARLY PAINTED WOOD ICON. Wood icon having two hinged doors which open to reveal a hand painted Madonna and child, below which are three Saints. The inside of the doors having four Saints, one being Saint George slaying the dragon. European, 19th Century or earlier. Some illegible writing to reverse. Comes with a custom wood stand. SIZE: 16-3/4″ x 12″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Joan B. Hanson, Fair Haven, N.J. CONDITION: Craquelure throughout, some chips with paint loss. 9-95880 (500-1,000)
