CIRCLE OF FRANCIS WILLIAMS EDMONDS (American, 1806-1863) “THE BLIND FIDDLER”. Oil on canvas interior scene showing a fiddler in front of a large family playing his fiddle. There are twelve figures of children and adults and one dog. The room is well detailed with households articles, produce and crafts. The scene is copied from the original titled “The Blind Fiddler, 1806 by Sir David Wilkie which is housed in the Tate Gallery in London. Housed in a partial gilt molded wood replacement frame with gilt liner having gilt artist plaque. SIZE: 16-1/2″ x 24”. CONDITION: Top edge with some flaking, inpainting, old lining. 9-93672 (3,000-5,000)
