CHINESE EXPORT LACQUERED DOCUMENT BOX. Mid 19th century. This fine gilt decorated example with the owner’s name, Julius Kramer, on the lid within a cartouche of leaf tips, centered by scenes of herons within marshy landscapes. The lid gilt decorated with a leafy border. The whole black lacquered and fitted with original brass carrying handles. SIZE: 6″ h x 19-1/2″ l x 12″ d. CONDITION: Very good original condition. The lacquered surfaces crackled. 9-97284 (700-900)
