EARLY ANHEUSER-BUSCH PAPER POSTER. Circa 1880s. One of the first posters ever made for Anheuser-Busch, this large paper poster shows the famous eagle within an “A” logo in a large central medallion in red, white, and blue. Advertising their flagship lager beer, which won various awards at the Philadelphia Exposition of 1876 and the Paris Exposition of 1878, it proudly states “The brewery’s own bottling only bears this label. All corks of brewery’s own bottling are branded Anheuser’s. And all bottles bear a caution label.” SIZE: 43″ h x 28″ w. CONDITION: Some water staining, edge tears, and wrinkling, but overall generally good to very good with bright colors. Considering the age of this poster and its general frailty, its condition is quite nice. 1-10538 (1,500-2,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
