CARVED WOOD MONKEY DISPLAY FIGURE. Exceptional and highly detailed carving bordering on the bizarre. Reminiscent of Black Forest carving this full bodied monkey has inset eyes and a wide brim hat wearing shorts and a sash around his waist, and sits upon a separate carved rock pile. His right hand is raised which likely held a hanging sign, his left hand is at his side and is carved as if to hold a flagpole. This attention getter likely sat outside a store or just inside to attract shoppers. A wonderful example with great appeal. SIZE: Overall 56-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good plus. Close examination reveals a professional repair to the brim of his hat. A few minor chips/rubs here and there. 1-12655 (3,000-5,000)
