ROCK ISLAND BREWING CO. “CROSS COUNTRY” BEER TIN SIGN. Early chromolithographed self-framed tin sign of two country gents placing a wager on the outcome of a cockfight, with the caption “The Beer You Can Bet Your Money On” suggesting that the odds on favorite for the day would be the stockpile of “Cross Country” beer seen in the background. The Rock Island Brewery of Rock Island, Ill. was founded in 1892 by the consolidation of the neighboring Huber Brewery, Raible & Stengle Brewery and the Atlantic Brewery. SIZE: 20” w. x 24-1/2” h. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with a few very faint vertical lines in the surface sheen and two small nail holes at bottom corners. 1-10409 (1,000-1,500)
