SOUTH BEND WATCH COUNTERTOP DISPLAY. Marvelous figural pocket watch light-up sign with a reverse on glass “dial” face depicting a watch frozen in a block of ice as testimony to its ability to take a licking and keep on ticking. Manufactured by the Cincinnati Sand Blast Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. Includes a card from the C. C. Markham Jewelry Store, Guilford, CT where it originated from. It is unusual that this piece comes with its original cowl and early white porcelain, wire-wrapped socket. Rarely seen with its complete back end. A scarce and important piece of advertising. SIZE: 12-1/2” w. x 17” h. CONDITION: Some loss of gilt to “bezel” but overall both the display and the reverse on glass paint are in very good condition. Electrical cord needs replacement. 1-9841 (4,000-5,000)
