SOAPINE SOAP REVERSE ON GLASS SIGN. Fabulous early sign from the Kendall Mfg. Co. of Providence, R.I. for their “Soapine” brand of toilet and laundry soap. Fanciful seascape illustration of a sailor washing away the black color of a beached whale as testimonial to the effectiveness of their soap. Elaborate lettering includes silver foil and mother of pearl accents. One of only 2 examples known to the cataloger. SIZE: Image: 23-1/2″ w x 29-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Sign has had an attempt at a partial restoration, but would be enhanced with professional conservation. Lettering at the words “Soapine”, “Toilet and Laundry” has had some color touch-up as well as the seascape areas, black background and gold pinstriping. 1-11815 (2,500-4,500)
