NEW ENGLAND SHERATON CARVED MAHOGANY BED. Second quarter 19th century. Each post ring, bell, and ball turned with spiral twist columns surmounted by acorn finials. The head with paneled board and with rolled ears. SIZE: 67″ h x 81-1/4″ l x 48″ w overall. Interior: 74-3/4″ l x 42-1/2″ w. PROVENANCE: Connecticut family home which descended from Sarah Upson Goodrich (Mrs. Oliver R. Beckwith) who descended from the Rev. Charles Chauncey, President of Harvard College and Elder William Brewster. Sarah was a member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Repolished. 9-21871 (500-1,000)
