MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE CARVED CHERRY SIDE CHAIR. Second half 18th century, probably Salem. Arched crestrail with backswept molded ears joined to an openwork splat with central elongated heart decoration. Trapezoidal seat frame raised on trapezoidal molded and chamfered frontal legs. Backswept rear legs chamfered and canted. All joined by recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 38″ h, 17-1/2″ h of seat. CONDITION: Retains original cleaned surfaces. Front seat braces original.
