LOT OF 3 BOATS. An unusual lot, likely patent models, lot consists of 1) A two part boat that is split vertically, symmetrically separating the port side from the starboard side, which are locked in place by metal bands when not in use. Each half is mounted with a pulley mechanism on its deck that is connected to a weighted chain that keeps the halves from drifting too far apart. 2) Possibly a model for an early submarine, this all wood capsule shaped model has dual keels and a spring loaded hatch with brass cover with the underside being a mirror image of the top. Included is a curved, jointed, copper periscope or funnel. Surrounded on all sides by a cork bumper, perhaps for buoying the vessel. 3) Intricate and well crafted wooden skeleton of a ship’s hull. SIZE: Longest 25″ l. CONDITION: Overall lot is good to very good with various chips, scratches and general wear. Fabric bumpers on submarine show deterioration and loss of filling. 1-13561 (1,500-2,000)
