SEEBURG STYLE “KT SPECIAL” ORCHESTRION. A classic orchestrion with a multitude of instruments produced from approximately 1918 until the late 1920s. This particular model has the following instruments: piano, xylophone, mandolin, base drum, snare drum, tympani (base drum attachment), cymbal, castanets, triangle, tambourine, & Chinese wood block. According to Q. David Bowers (Encyclopedia of Automatic Instruments) this particular style was a top of the line model with the most instruments of any cabinet style orchestrion. A popular model especially with speakeasy operators due to the compact size. Normal pianos required that extra bit of space and protection from harm for a visible keyboard. Encased in a fancy veneered oak cabinet with a leaded art glass front exposing a few of the instruments. A multitude of musical “rolls” could be purchased and easily changed by the operator for the listening pleasure and continued use by the patrons of said establishment. In working order this particular machine was restored about twenty years ago and shows normal wear and tear to the cabinet, as expected a tuning would be quite beneficial. SIZE: 48-1/2″ w x 24-1/2″ d x 65-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good condition, art glass does have some damage (cracks). 5-10405 (11,000-15,000)
