PATENT MODEL: P.L. CASE SULKY PLOW. Predominantly of brass construction with some wood elements. Model consists of two large brass spoked wheels, between which is an adjustable plow blade beneath a formed saddle seat. Advancements in sulky plows include levers on either side to adjust the height of left wheel and plow blade for plowing on uneven ground, and wheels that swivel in association with the horse tongue to navigate turns better. Retains original patent tag with number 220,701, dated Oct. 21, 1879 along with receiving tag dated May 24 of the same year. Accompanied by custom glass and wood display case of more recent vintage. SIZE: 13″ l x 8-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Overall very good and appears to be all original. Brass appears to have been polished, showing some pitting.
