SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1818 FLINTLOCK MARTIAL PISTOL. Cal. 70. 11” rnd bbl. Marked “SPRING / FIELD / 1818” in three vertical lines at the tail of the lockplate. There is an eagle over “US” in the center of the lockplate. The bbl is also dated 1818 and has the standard “P” in a sunken cartouche over an eagle head and “V”. “RC” inspector marks at the base of the grip. The left flat of the stock has two cartouches that are only partially readable. The ramrod is a replacement. The lockplate appears to be orig flintlock but the bbl has some welding scale around the touchhole. CONDITION: Brown patina overall with light surface rust with pitting only in the breech area. Stock has been lightly sanded and re oiled. Mechanically fine. 4-57222 FS64 (3,500-4,500)
