SALESMAN SAMPLE GRAIN SEPARATOR & PATENT MODEL EXCAVATOR. The first is an unusual dome top machine with interior fitted with leather belt and paddles to churn the grain and run it through various sifters. Marked on top “Seeley & Griswold” with 1861 patent date. Also includes patent model excavator (no patent tag but with O. Rundle Gilbert tag indicating patent #204,887 and a patent date of May 28, 1878. Hand crank alternates brass tipped “fingers” and two pick axe tipped arms. SIZE: Larger is 12″ w x 14-1/2″ d x 19″ h. PROVENANCE: The late Terry Wesner collection, Chelsea, Michigan. CONDITION: Good to very good with deterioration to wire mesh and general wear. Excavator generally good. 1-12720 (400-600)
