MUTOSCOPE MONKEY STRENGTH TESTER. A neat machine from the 1940s that was prevalently used at arcades and amusement parks. As you stood on the iron base and pulled the handles upwards, the monkey would climb the coconut tree. The colored lights on the marquee would change from left to right as the monkey climbed higher. If you were a “strong man”, the red light indicating 1,000 would glare brightly and the bell would ring. Obviously for the operator of this machine, it was a cash cow as the kids would gather around, depositing coin after coin trying to outdo the others. Very nice original condition (possible clear coat to wood). Mechanics appear to be functional. Wooden cash drawer on side replaced with metal door. SIZE: 90″ h. CONDITION: Overall very fine original condition. Coin entrance plaque is old but probable replacement. One cent decals added to front facade of machine. 1-10495 (4,000-6,000)
