ABADEH OR AFSHAR RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA. Second quarter 20th century. Brick red medallion centered by four ivory lesser medallions, all with serrated edges on a dark indigo field. The whole with dense polychrome flowerheads, birds and other geometric devices within multiple guard borders of flowerheads. SIZE: 4′ x 3’7″. PROVENANCE: Estate of William Hoeschle of Belfast, Maine. CONDITION: Even minor wear throughout, colors strong. Some losses to fringe and selvage. 9-96579 (400-600)
