MILSTED FOWLING PIECE. 8 bore. NSN. Fine conversion fowler with 48-3/8” damascus bbl. Marked “MILSTED” on the lockplate, which has been converted from flintlock to percussion using the drum & nipple method. Conversion breech plug is marked “TENTERDEN” and has a wide gold band. Top tang is very nicely engraved with a trophy of arms & flags with other foliate patterns. Other markings are worn away. Rear 1-3/4” of the butt has been spliced with a resulting 14-5/8” pull. Ramrod is also a replacement. CONDITION: Stock retains much of its fine hand worn patina with normal nicks & scratches. Wrist checkering is worn & filled with hand grease. There is a small repair just ahead of the lockplate & the hammer nose is broken away. Mechanics are fine. 4-53758 JR761 (500-1,000)
