GENERAL STORE TRADE SIGN. Late 19th century found in Massachusetts. This nice example hand painted on thin stock poplar board with bread board ends and original chamfered oak battens. The sign reads “DAILY/PAPERS/PERIODICALS/ STATIONERY,/CANDIES,/FRUIT,/NUTS/CIGARS,/TOBACCO/&C.& C.”. All in cream letters highlighted in reds and yellow within a mustard yellow outline border against a dark brown background. SIZE: 34″ h x 22-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Very good overall with original lettering. Colors remain distinct. 9-21784 (1,200-1,600)
