PATENT MODEL PORTABLE LADDER FOR GATHERING FRUIT. Patented November 19, 1878 by Luther Titus, #210,163. Interesting advancement for the fruit gathering industry and likely a time and back saver for transitioning from tree to tree. A multi-rung, adjustable ladder mounted to a wagon wheel frame and balanced for easy transport with two long wooden handles. Accompanied by original patent tag (good- darkened with one corner missing). SIZE: 28″ l x 15-1/2″ w x 21-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: The late Terry Wesner collection, Chelsea, Michigan.
