THIRTEEN CORRESPONDENCE & JAPANESE DAGGER GIFT FROM TOSHIRO MIFUNE. During the filming of the 1968 movie Hell in the Pacific, the two characters in the movie; Lee Marvin as the American pilot and Toshiro Mifune as Captain Tsuruhiko Kuroda became close friends and kept in touch years after the movie. Toshiro presented Lee with this ceremonial 16″ decorative dagger and sheath (handle with break). The lot of correspondence include five holiday cards without envelopes, eight envelopes with various dates in the 70s and 80s including six holiday cards, one announcement of his UCLA medal, a typed letter dated April 5, 1984 thanking Lee for chairing the Japan movie week held in New York.
