PATENT MODEL CORPSE PRESERVER. Patented September 29, 1868 by J.J. Reichert, #82,552. Robust wood container on turned legs with curved top that is peaked to accommodate a container for ice on top and one on bottom either for more ice or for drainage to keep the dearly departed chilled. Set with small glass viewing window. Accompanied by original patent tag (small tear and some tape residue) and receiving tag (nailed to side). SIZE: 12″ l x 4-1/2″ w x 6-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: The late Terry Wesner collection, Chelsea, Michigan. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with possible replaced lid. 1-12694 (400-600)
