MASSACHUSETTS FEDERAL MAHOGANY SECRETARY. Circa 1825, probably Salem.In two parts, the upper case with swan’s neck pediment with floral brass rosetts centering three urn finials above a pair of cupboard doors with astragal glazed gothic panels, opening to an interior with an adjustable shelf over an arrangement of small drawers and pigeonholes, stepped back and fitted to the lower section having a hinged folding baize-lined writing surface supported by lopers, centering a deep upper drawer above two molded long drawers flanked by pineapple carved and rope twist columns above baluster form ring-turned legs. SIZE: 80-1/2′ h x 44-1/2″ w x 20″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall. Old restored shrinkage splits, center of base. Old restoration, swan’s neck pediment. 9-97245 (3,000-5,000)
