AMERICAN HOOKED RUG OF RECUMBENT LION. Late 19th/early 20th cent. Depicting a recumbent male lion in shades of brown and red flanked by foliage. The background in grays and greens within a triple border. Executed in wool on burlap. SIZE: 4′ 4-1/2″ l x 2′ 9″ w. CONDITION: A rewoven area beneath the forelegs, a 3″ x 1-1/2″ area beneath the proper left shoulder in need of repair, additional spot behind the mane and at the mid-point of the right side facing by border in need of reweaving. Additional smaller areas rewoven or in need of additional reweaving, otherwise good condition. 9-97288 (800-1,200)
