EARLY COUNTER TOP WATLING BROWNIE SLOT MACHINE. Watling Manufacturing created two different style Brownies, the first being circa 1910 and the other being slightly later with a simpler cabinet. This particular example is in a quarter sawn oak cabinet with a fancifully cast iron head embossed with wildlife birds and a marsh type theme. Five coins could be played. If all five slots were selected, a winner was guaranteed. Varied pay amounts depending on color chosen (red and black were a 2 to 1 payout). Green, the highest payout (at 20 to 1) had only 2 wedges on the payout disc. A very desirable machine with a handsomely restored wooden cabinet and nickel plated iron castings. The lithographed dial with the various colors and intricate center design is in great functional condition and ready for one’s game room. SIZE: 22″ w x 11-1/2″ d x 30″ h. CONDITION: Overall very fine, replacement rear back door. 1-10320 (5,500-7,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
