A LACQUERED TEA CADDY TOGETHER WITH TWO PEWTER EXAMPLES. China, late 19th/early 20th century. The black lacquered box decorated overall with silver dragons, fitted with a pair of compartments for tea, each with a black lacquered lid decorated with butterflies. The pewter tea canisters each fitted with double lids, decorated overall with plum, orchid, bamboo and clouds. The larger mounted with four carrying handles, the underside with a four-character mark. SIZE: Box 5-1/2″h x 8″l x 5″d.; Canisters (largest) 5-1/4″ dia, (smallest) 3″ dia. CONDITION: Lacquered box with wear and abrasion and with small losses to lacquer. The pewter canisters in very good condition with nice patina. 9-24765 (400-600)
