OUTSTANDING FOLK ART HESSIAN SOLIDER WHIRLIGIG IN ORIGINAL BLUE, RED, AND WHITE PAINT. This whirligig was found in a local Maine attic and is a wonderful and important discovery. Soldier is dressed in blue pants with red coat and white shirt, what appears to be blue, black, and red hat. Arms extend to 8″ shaped metal knife blades. Coat has tuxedo type tail which is made of separate piece of wood that is screwed onto rear. Face has two little holes for eyes and nose protrudes from face which has piece pinned to it. Small cutout mouth. Its original paint and interesting folk art form make this a extremely desirable piece to the most discriminating collector. SIZE: 17 3/4″ h x 7 3/4″ at shoulders.
