TAVERN TRADE SIGN. 19th Century double sided carved wood tavern sign with wrought iron chain and clasp. One side features a carved wood half-tankard while the other side has a painted bull’s face above what appears to the initials “W P” and the date of “1848”. Faintly visible in the background behind the initials appears to be the outlines of crossed axes and remnants of an earlier decoration. Both sides of the carving retain darkened polychromed surfaces.
