POMEROY CONTRACT 1816 FLINTLOCK MUSKET. Cal. 69. 42” rnd bbl. Dated “1840” on the lockplate and bbl tang. Assembly marks “4” and “6” are used on the inside of the lockplate with only the hammer screw showing a “4” on the outside of the lock. Hammer is unmarked while the frizzen has the number “10”. Bbl shows a pitting pattern where the nipple would have been mounted on the Belgian conversion. Cartouche on the left side of the stock is not readable. This fine old musket is from a private old Pennsylvaia collection and being sold unreserved. CONDITION: All metal has been cleaned bright. Markings are sharp on the metal. Chip in front of the lockplate. Dents and scratches elsewhere. 4-55112 (2,500-4,500)
