WOODEN ONE CENT PENNY DROP. These machines were made in prolific amounts by various companies and serviced in a multitude of settings such as general stores, barber shops, bars etc. Easy and inexpensive to make, they truly created great profits for the operator even though it cost only a penny to play. A person would drop a penny in the top slot and cascade down a series of nails, eventually dropping a winning position on the right or left side or more likely disappearing into the depths of oblivion also known as the “win zone” for the operator. The odds were greatly in the operator’s favor and occasionally the player might win five cents, ten cents or twenty-five cents in merchandise, but only on rare occasions. With this machine there was virtually no chance of mechanical failure and/or downtime for repairs or malfunctions. An oak wooden cabinet and the front door containing the cash box with separate columns indicating the various winning positions. SIZE: 13-1/2″ x 8″ x 20″ t. CONDITION: Overall very good. Replacement lock to front door. 1-11709 (450-650)
