BRIDGEWATER 1816 FLINTLOCK CONTRACT MUSKET. Cal. 72. 42” rnd bbl. Lockplate is marked “BRIDGEWATER” in an arch around the rear of the hammer. It is dated 1819 on both the lock and bbl. Although it has the eagle “US” on the lockplate, it also has the MA. proofs on the bbl. Good reconversion. The sear spring is incorrect and binds against the wood. The brass washers for the lockplate screws are typical for Massachusetts contract muskets. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina mixed with light to moderate pitting overall. Wood has been revarnished. Mechanically needs adjustment. 4-57300 (1,500-2,500)
