HENDRIK WILLELM CRAMER (Dutch, 1809-1874) THE BUDDING COURTSHIP. Outstanding oil on canvas interior scene shows a man being presented by family members to a young woman. He is getting advice from another man and holds a small bouquet of flowers. Another woman sits beside the girl looking away from the gentleman.A younger girl sits on an ottoman and shields her face with a fan. Above the gentleman is a double window looking out to vinery and blue with white cloud sky. The interior set with elegant furnishings. Signed lower right “Cramer”. Housed in a magnificent period gesso decorated gilt wide frame. SIZE: 26-1/2″ x 22″. CONDITION: Restored, relined. Very good. 9-95519 (2,000-3,000)
