FIVE CENT INTERNATIONAL MUTOSCOPE. A classic nickel operated mutoscope viewer. This one featuring the “Hoot Gibson” movie cowboy. For a nickel you would crank the handle, the light would come on and you would be able to view the cowboy scene for a short period of time. Of course, it would take several nickels to view the entire reel. Reels and marquees were interchangeable and there was an abundance of different scenes anywhere from cowboy scenes to comic character to scenic views, etc. These machines produced a great deal of income for the operators with little maintenance required and the only expense would be the changing of reels and marquee cards. A stamped steel and iron machine with a cast iron marquee, the machine has been restored and is in operating condition. SIZE: Overall 52″ t. Approx. 13″ d x 8″ w. CONDITION: Overall very fine restored. Reel bundle appears to be excellent. 1-12044 (600-800) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2012 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
