Additional Information: PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Mildred & Madeline Burrage of Wiscasset, Maine. Descended from furnishings of the Bangor, Maine home of their grandfather, Moses Giddings.


PAIR OF FRENCH FRAMED COLLAGE LANDSCAPES. Each housed identically in gilt gesso decorated frames with glass fronts. One titled “The Fall of Tummil” depicting a waterfall with tree and cliff sides having a pasture and mountains in background. A man stands atop left hand cliff. The other titled “Vue de la Cascade de St. Saphorin” depicting a cascading waterfall off a tall cliff with houses, bridge and mountains. Two people are seen in the foreground standing on a small beach. There is an arched bridge with several houses beside. Both pictures are three-dimensional in a shadow box type arrangement using bark and moss as decorations. The backgrounds, water, sky, etc. are watercolor. Mid 19th Century. SIZE: Sight: 15-1/2″ x 22″. Overall: 22-1/2″ x 28″. CONDITION: Each has a small tear in the upper right sky, frames with some losses, generally good. 9-97265 (1,500-2,500)
