PACIFIC NORTHWEST CARVED AND POLYCHROME-PAINTED TOTEM. First half 20th century. The rectangular pole with rounded corners surmounted by a mystical carved bird, the column carved with a pair of masks with ceremonial trappings above two faces centering a fish, continuing to a figural base symbolizing a seated mother and child, the former with wings, the latter holding a fish. All on a platform base. SIZE: 70″ h. CONDITION: Overall good with old, if not original, painted surfaces. Masks and figure on base missing applied noses or beaks. 9-22213 (800-1,200)
