MAINE FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY BLIND DOOR SECRETARY. Circa 1810. In two parts, the rectangular upper section with concave molded cornice, the frieze inlaid with contrasting geometric stringing above a pair of cross banded cabinet doors, opening to three aligned drawers above three open compartments, stepped back and fitted on the lower case behind a folding baise-lined writing surface supported by lopers. The three long drawers with cock beaded edges, flanked by satinwood veneered pilasters continuing to square tapered legs. The doors and drawers with shield form escutcheons. SIZE: 48″ h overall x 39″ w x 21″ d. CONDITION: Professionally cleaned polished surfaces. Old repair to left front corner of hinged lid. Small losses to veneers on upper sides of lower case. One escutcheon absent. Otherwise very good with period brasses. 9-96525 (3,000-5,000)
