FRENCH AUTOMATON WITH BALLERINA. A fine, outstanding automaton attributed to Roullet et DeCamps from the first part of the 20th century featuring a young lady pirouetting about a velvet covered box. Many motions including lifting of left leg, turning of head, and shifting of torso from left to right. Dressed in a fanciful ballerina outfit, complete with flowers. Figure features bisque hands and a bisque shoulder plate houses the bisque Simon & Halbig head, which were often used by makers of automatons. The piece appears to be in all original, untouched condition, including the velvet covered base. Mechanism is in fine working order and music box plays a fine melody that can easily be heard.
