DOMED FRENCH BEBE CLOCK AUTOMATON. A very fine example produced by a French firm in the latter part of the 19th century featuring a clock that would have activated the automaton on the half hour and hour. It features a French Bru bebe seated at a table, powdering her nose next to a trellis and is completed by a painted scene on rear of dome. It appears over the years some alterations/improvements have been made to this automaton. The automaton can now be activated without the clock. The Bru bebe is identical to those found on Bru fashions, and known as the highly sought after “Bru Smiler”. The automaton itself is on a black ebonized wooden base with a porcelain clock face inserted on front middle. SIZE: 20″ w x 9″ d x 25″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good, some loss/damage to porcelain clock face. Possibly missing crystal bezel? Automaton is functional and music plays. 1-10459 (4,500-8,500)
