SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1840 FLINTLOCK MUSKET WITH BAYONET AND NEW HAMPSHIRE MARKING. Cal. 69. 42” rnd bbl. Dated 1842 on the lock and bbl. “JAS” cartouche on the left flat of the stock. Shadow “NH” marking is on the left flat of the bbl. Bayonet is proper. All interior parts of the lock have “S” inspector marks. Lockplate has “L” and “N” initials. CONDITION: Excellent. Much of the orig bright finish showing under the heavy dried grease covering. Edges of the wood are sharp. Mechanically excellent. 4-56326 FS176 (3,000-5,000)
