1890s ERA JUMEAU BEBE. Head markings consist of only an incised “11” at the base of the neck and a few red artist marks. She is unquestionably Jumeau and has very large blue paperweight eyes, thick multi-stroked eyebrows and tiny painted eyelashes, well painted closed mouth with dimple in center of chin and on the original fully jointed wood and composition body bearing an oval shaped paper label on the torso reading “Bebe Jumeau Diplomme d’Honneur”. Although slightly worn, the magenta pleated silk dress with gold braid trim could be original or at least of the period. Undergarments are antique as are the socks, however she has no shoes. Wig is a blond human hair replacement over a replaced cardboard pate. SIZE: 23″ (58cm). CONDITION: Overall very good with slight typical wear to body and an extra tiny amount of bisque above the right ear with a tiny firing mark. There is slight speckling in bisque below eyes and on forehead. 1-12385 (1,200-1,800)
