RARE ORIENTAL BRU Jne 7 BEBE. An all original French bebe, rear of bisque head incised “BRU Jne 7” with similar markings on right & left sides of the bisque shoulder plate. Closed mouth with molded white space between the lips, brown paperweight eyes with well painted eyelashes & dark eyebrows, pierced ears, bisque shoulder plate with realistically modeled bosom. White kid over metal jointed upper arms, perfect bisque forearms, on a Chevrot body (wooden lower legs), original paper label intact on chest directly under the bisque shoulder plate. She has been elaborately costumed wearing a black mohair wig with brass fan jewelry with matching drop earrings in the fan design and a metallic choker necklace with matching bracelet on left wrist. This exact jewelry is described and pictured in The Bru Book by Francois Theimer. Her under garments are typical Bru cotton & lace, she is wearing a couture long blue silk kimono with hand embroidered flowers, gold silk ribbon sash at waist with inner sleeves of the same material. In addition she retains her original and rare Bru slippers stamped on the soles “7 Bru Jne Paris”. A version of Bru’s attempt to capture the essence of an Asian child, this is a spectacular doll as well as a unique opportunity to acquire a most desirable bebe! SIZE: 18” (46cm) t.
