FOUR NORTH EASTERN WOODLANDS NATIVE AMERICAN BEADED POUCHES. 19th/20th Century. 1) 7″ x 7″ open top pouch. One side with scroll design of blue & white beads on red fabric. The other side having similar scroll design but with white, amethyst, and dark amethyst beads. The edge having a green sewn border with white beads. 2) 7″ x 7″ six-sided bag with open top. One side having yellow, blue, white, and green beads on a red background. Blue & white border beads with a white stitched fabric border with white bead edge. The other side with a different design using the same color beads & border. 3) 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ pouch with top flap in a hexagonal form decorated with colorful beaded flowers & multi-bead edge. 4) 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ pouch with top flap in a hexagonal form decorated with colorful beaded flowers & multi-bead edge. PROVENANCE: From a New England Institution. CONDITION: 1) Loss to bead edge and breaks & losses in green border. A few moth holes & thinness in red backing, otherwise very good. 2) Fraying & losses to material edge, minor losses of white edge beads, otherwise very good. 3) Some deterioration to edge fabric & some minor losses in beading. 4) Losses to bead edge, fabric on border has losses & deterioration.
