SET OF 3 DOUBLE-SIDED WINCHESTER CARDBOARD SIGNS. From March 1920 through 1928, Winchester produced sets of cardboard panels designed to be inserted into a hinged wood frame for the store retailer to use as a window display. The sets were dated with the specific week or weeks Winchester intended the retailer to display them, with the products portrayed corresponding to the appropriate season. It is believed that approximately 100 different sets were produced in all. Originally part of a set of 5, these signs were intended as a store display for the month of March 1924. One side of the signs has split bamboo fishing rods and the reverse side illustrates a variety of rakes, pitchforks, and shovels. SIZE: Each 18-1/4″ w x 40″ h. CONDITION: Good to very good with thumbnail sized pieces missing from bottom edge; each has a one-inch horizontal margin tear. 1-9657 (500-1,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
